Based on years of experience and discussions with customers, the Research and Development team at Alaris COJOT designed a new smaller version of the Steered Beam Antenna – the Panel SBA.
Steerable Beam Antennas (SBA), a form of smart antenna technology, have evolved significantly in recent years, especially in military, security, and tactical communication systems by offering a fixed set of directional beams that are electronically steerable.
During all these years, Alaris COJOT, who specialises in mission-critical antennas for defence and security applications, have developed SBAs with a specific roadmap and purpose in mind. We have built a strong reputation for rugged, field-proven solutions tailored to both military and law enforcement markets.
The first SBAs which were introduced, were purposefully designed for mast/static environments. Thereafter the antennas were adapted to mobile platforms like vehicles and vessels. The latest introduction was the semi-permanent installation with magnetic mounting options.
In order to offer various solutions to our customers, the roadmap also included introducing SBAs for supporting different form factors, for example covert applications (low profile SBA2456DB-LP). The latest in this range was the small form factor SBA (SBA2456DB-S).
Typically, the SBA antennas offer 360° azimuthal coverage via a set of electronically switchable directional beams. The design is focused on enhancing link reliability and signal reception, especially in challenging RF environments and for use in vehicular systems, static deployments, and command posts. SBAs have the benefit of significantly improving reception in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios and reduces vulnerability to interference and jamming.
Alaris COJOT’s antennas often integrate with radios to automatically switch beams based on signal strength or direction of arrival. This allows for quicker communication setup, higher throughput, and lower error rates in tactical environments.
So, what makes the new Panel SBA so special? Since the full 360° horizontal coverage may not always be needed our most recent work has been the development of a Panel SBA, covering a specific sector using beam steering capability. As an introduction to the Panel SBA, we have the pleasure of introducing a 90-degree coverage antenna with eleven sharp beams, the SBA2456DB-P90. This dual band, one-foot steerable beam panel concept has been created to gather customer feedback and better understanding across a range of markets and applications including counter-UAS and Tactical Communications, etc.
In an age where the electromagnetic environment is becoming increasingly contested, Alaris COJOT’s application of Steerable Beam Antennas is a step forward in preserving secure, resilient communications with a reduced RF profile. Ideal applications of our Steerable Beam Antennas are for countermeasures, drone / UAS detection and jamming.
Steerable Beam Antennas are designed especially to enhance the performance of the latest Software Defined Radios (SDRs) operating i.e. in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) utilizing MIMO and high modulation rates. The latest SBA version supports MIMO with multi polarization options and high modulation rates with high peak power tolerance.

The above antennas, as well as the newly innovated Panel SBA, highlight Alaris COJOT's commitment to advancing communication technologies by offering solutions that enhance signal directionality, reduce interference and support high-power applications across various frequency bands.
